How to pack bedroom items ready for moving house
Our do’s and don’ts list aims to help you pack away bedroom items ready for moving home!
Wardrobe
Do:
- Use wardrobe packing boxes – they’re ideal for this purpose
- Use suitcases/garment bags
- Pack less used clothing items first!
Don’t:
- Pack valuables which include jewellery
- More delicate/fragile items of clothing
- Bedding & Linens
Do:
- Strip beds before packing them
- Fold and place bedding and linen in plastic bags
Don’t:
- Use your best linen, bedding, or towels for padding
- Don’t pack soiled linen or bed linen
- Bed Frames & Headboards
Do:
- Disassemble and place all the bits in re-sealable plastic bags
- Fold and secure blankets and duvets using tape before placing them in black bin liners
Mattresses
Do:
- Wrap mattresses in mattress bags or plastic
- Use straps or rope to secure when loaded on transport
Don’t:
- Stack any boxes on top of mattresses
- Don’t drag mattresses along the ground
- Pictures, Paintings and Artwork
Do:
- Make sure you use acid-free paper to protect surfaces, and
- Place plastic wrapping around pictures after this
- Protect corners of paintings/pictures using bubble wrap or cardboard
